Osario covers the topoi of those living with Autism in her article, "I Am #ActuallyAutistic, Hear Me Tweet." This article bring to light the idea that people are able to take a hashtag and use it to find and use their voice to advocate for themselves. Hashtags are a great way to help advocacy groups get their posts seen and amass a bigger audience if it gains traction.

Osario's article helps push the rhetoric that social media can help people advocate for what they want. I think this relates to my topic (children's mental health) because these are two topics that are beginning to gain more traction. Mental health is a growing concern in not just the adult world, but also is something that children and teens struggle with. People typically push their (children/teens) feelings aside because children haven't had to deal with the real struggles of the world, right?

This is obviously incorrect. Children can advocate for themselves as long as there are people listening. Much like other movements and especially those using their voice with the #ActuallyAutistic hashtag, there are allies who are listening and wanting to help spread the voices of those who need help. But, we should also be able to listen to those who are actually living with what they're experiencing and not just listening to people who study these groups, gain credentials, and are doctors, therapists, etc...
