The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health posted a blog post on bullying and even gives statistics on children being bullied in the UK. There are resources linked for anyone who needs help and the post even talks about wanting to create safer environment.
It’s interesting because of our reading for the week in terms of activism. Activism, though initially something that’s seen as good, can become an area where things get sticky (especially in the online space.) Many children find and make spaces for themselves online but there are those moments where people don’t agree. While this is okay, conversations can turn bad pretty quickly especially whenever someone is passionate about what they are trying to convey. These spaces can quickly become unsafe for youths in terms of their mental health.
I believe that blog posts such as this can help parents/adults with their children when they are struggling and it’s great to have resources to turn to when in need. Things can get crazy online so there has to be a space where people can feel safe when seeking help.
