There is a rising concern for the mental health of youths. There are a few sources that I found that share information on a daily or weekly basis to keep their communities in the know. Factors such as home environment, school environment, the ongoing issue that is COVID, and even feelings about themselves can cause youths to struggle mentally.
I found a few places that consistently posts updates about the mental health in youths, meetings about this topic, and events that have been planned that can help youths do and talk about things that are meaningful. This is something that is relevant because rather than simply speak on the issue at hand, youths are able to participate in the conversation and/or participate in events together that can help them meet new people and converse with those who share similarities and differences.
One source that I think would be useful comes from Twitter. The organization is called Global Youth Connect and their mission is to "Global Youth Connect is a digital platform centered on empowering diverse young people with accurate-age appropriate information." While scrolling through their page, there were many interesting posts that could spark positive conversation among diverse youths. There are even questions asked by the org that followers can answer. It sparks conversation amongst adults as well and people are made to produce though provoking replies.
Another source that I found was another Twitter source called Partners For Youth Inc. and though they are Canadian based, there is still information that could be used for youths around the world. The only thing that might be a little difficult would be that youths residing outside the area wouldn't be able to make it to the events that they host. Besides the events, they mostly seem to retweet posts from those who are actively advocating for better for youths struggling with their mental health. Users can be redirected to accounts that are sharing videos and news about what is happening in the community.
The last source that I found happened to be a blog. The organization is called The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health. It is updated on a weekly basis and seems to be on the more informative side. It seems like a blog that caters more to parents and adults that are interested in keeping up with news surrounding the mental health in youths.
I think these are good sources to use because it can reach variety of people. Not all of them are U.S. based either. People can see what is happening in other areas of the world and are welcome to check out news articles, videos, and meetings that take place pertaining to this issue.
