Modern Applications

So as I've said before, the topic I've chosen is pretty broad and difficult to narrow down. A lot of the more strictly anti-consumerist media I encounter involves a (new?) minimalism especially when it relates to mindfulness like in these blog threads https://www.becomingminimalist.com/archives/

They take both a psychological and economical perspective to buying less, as it will create less physical clutter and also save your wallet.


Twitter user Mohamad Safa takes a more political-economic stance, criticizing the social hierarchy caused by the oppression of the working class. He also criticizes the pressure to consume and the (recent?) sudden lack of resources caused by the wage-price discrepancy.


Twitter user Little Green Tips looks at the more sustainable/environmental perspective to consumerism, advocating for easy ways to grow and use edible plants at home. Her blog is family oriented, often also focusing on preventing food waste. https://twitter.com/littlegreentip1


Twitter user Dank Left uses a more comical tone (one I tried and failed to do early this semester) to criticize the consumption-reliant society prevalent in the United States and the social politics that restrict people from living fulfilling lives without capitalism. https://twitter.com/LaterCapitalism
